After our trip to Mantova with my Art History class a couple
weeks ago, a few of us decided to take the short train ride up to Verona
to spend the rest of the afternoon/evening there.
Verona is a beautiful (although touristy) city in northern
Italy, just north of Mantova, near Lake Garda. Its claim to fame is being the
setting of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, and la Casa di Giulietta (Juliet’s
house) is one of the city’s most famous attractions. However, the city has many more beautiful sights to offer as well. We enjoyed wandering through the big
beautiful parks, passing Medieval and Roman structures on the way.

We did, of course, stop by Juliet’s house to see Juliet's balcony,
as well as the statue of Juliet. The crowds of tourists, unfortunately, were a
bit overwhelming, so we did not stay long there.

We did enjoy relaxing in the beautiful piazze of the city, enjoying the old feel and architecture of the
city:
We then stopped by
Sant’Anastasia, a beautiful (and big) Gothic church on the north end of
the city:
We then ended our evening by spending some time by the river

As always, Italy does not disappoint in the “beautiful
views” department!
We enjoyed the sunset over the Adige, then got some gelato
and sat down for some aperitivi before
heading back to the train station.
Ciao for now,
Augusto
